WINDFARBE
WINDFARBE explores the impact of kinetic sculpture and wind on the sensory experience within the dress. Transposing the idea of ‘wind colour’ - the English translation of the title - onto a series of sustainable silk gowns and conceptual accessories, Warnke prioritises the physical experience as the ultimate luxury in our virtually connected world.
Rotating garden sculptures, wind-chimes and the modernist architecture of the sacred buildings that inhabited Warnke’s German upbringing inspired the collection’s spiritual expression. Wind-powered headpieces see pinwheels blur in pattern and colour on arched steel frames, while shoes chime underfoot, rendered in up-cycled leather and tapestries. The essence of the architecture and sculpture that inform Warnke’s designs are echoed in the twisting curves of organza panelling and structural draping that wanes from intense shades of indigo, bruised purple and peach into light ivory.
Produced in his London studio, Warnke hand-dyed WINDFARBE in its entirety, cut with zero-waste techniques from cruelty-free silk provided by Cocccon and from TENCEL™ LUXE, a new botanical alternative to silk. TENCEL™ LUXE, the supporter of Johannes Warnke, and this showcase provides high-end material solutions to sustainability with its innovation in continuous filament yarn. Their endeavour aligns with Warnke’s ethics, allowing for the creation of the highest haptic experience while remaining cruelty-free and environmentally responsible.
Warnke’s soft-focus vision mediates the opposing forces of modern life. WINDFARBE, through its sensitive design and sustainable practice, intends to grant a sense of serenity.
